BASKETBALL UPDATE 2021
|Posted on January 4, 2021 at 11:20 AM|
WE CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER! WE NEED OUR ATHLETES BACK ON THE COURT!!
Sadly, due to Androscoggin county still being in the “YELLOW” status, AYS cannot offer our normal IN HOUSE or travel basketball programs. However, we can offer skills and drills to get our athletes finally playing some basketball.
We waited until the new year in hopes that restrictions and guidelines would ease up. But looking at the raising COVID cases in Maine, we don’t believe that will happen anytime soon. State of Maine Community Sports Guidelines say that they will be reviewed and updated around January 1st. If by some miracle they allow us to move to Level 2 or 3 despite “yellow” status, we will switch gears to move the skills & drills sessions toward our regular programs. Of course, there will be some modifying and changes either way. Until then skills & drills it is!!
We will be opening registrations for anyone interested in participating in Skills & Drills sessions. They will open today and close on Sunday 1/10. Visit www.ayssports.sportssignup.com The skills & drills sessions are listed under tryouts. This allows interested participants to register without paying a registration fee prior to starting. This also allows AYS to know numbers to help prepare.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ANYONE PLANNING ON PLAYING TO REGISTER BEFORE 1/10!
Once we have everything put together, Dates & times will be announced. Skills & Drills will be a 4 to 6 wk. session available to both boys & girls. Registration fee of $40-$50 will be due at first session.
Please be patient with us while we continue to navigate through the unknown.
