Football

Our signup dates are held mid June to late July.  We are part of the Sandy Andy Football League. Our season will hopefully start Mid-August.  Once we have meeting with the league, we will be able to provide more information and game schedule for this upcoming season.

Flag Football is for kids in grades K, 1 & 2. The fee for flag football is $30.

Contact football is for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8. Children entering grade 3 in the fall are eligible to register. The fee for football is $100.

Teams are broken into 3 groups; 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade & 7th/8th grade

The 3rd through 6th graders play games on Sundays and will travel to surrounding towns. They are required to supply cleats, a protective cup and a shirt large enough to fit over their shoulder pads.

The 7th and 8th graders normally play on Wednesday and/or Saturdays. They play middle school programs from several different towns. They are required to supply cleats, socks and a protective cup.

Cheerleading

Cheering is for boys or girls in grades K-8. Signups are held mid-June through mid-July. Little Poms is for children grades K-1st. Little Poms will cheer for flag football. Fee is $30.00  Fee for football cheering is $40. They will cheer for the AYS Football teams at both home and away games. Cheerleading squads are normally broken up by grade to coincide with the football team ages. Depending on the number of sign ups, there may not be one squad per football team and/or cheerleaders may cheer for 2 teams.  Our football teams, we cheer for are part of the Sandy Andy Football League. Field Hockey

Field hockey is for kids in grades 2-6. Sign ups are held mid-June to mid-July. Fee is $40.  There are generally two teams. One for 2nd - 4th grade and another for grades 5 & 6. Field hockey teams usually have 1 to 2 practices per week and play games or compete in round robins on the weekends and some travel is required for away games. In the past, teams have traveled to Poland, Skowhegan, Mt. Blue and Winthrop. AYS is always looking for other towns to compete against.  We are hoping to start our season Mid-August. Once we have meet with surrounding towns, we will provide more information and game schedule.  Players must provide their own stick, shin guards, cleats and mouthguard.

Soccer

Our soccer league plays in house and doesn't travel to other towns.  Signups are held mid-June through mid-July.  Once signups are complete, we will be able to make game schedules and will get them out to athletes asap.  We hope to have this season started mid-August.  Fee for soccer is: PeeWee $30.  Regular $40.   

PEE WEE soccer-For grades Pre-K, Kindergarten. Pee Wee soccer is also open to 1st graders that are first year players. If parents wish, their child can repeat pee wee or they can sign their 1st grader up for the Juniors Division.

The focus will be on developing soccer skills, athletic development and having fun.

Sessions will take place every Saturday morning at 9am for soccer activities that will include instruction and group drills.

We will have small sided scrimmage games with goals the last 2 weeks of the season.

SM Middle School and SM High School soccer players will act as coaches/counselors

JUNIORS-Grades 1 & 2

Focus will be on advancing skill development of passing, dribbling, positioning and fun.

Games will be every Saturday with 1-2 practices during the week

Games will be 4; 10 minute quarters and 6 v 6 (+ GK)

MAJORS-Grades 3 & 4

Focus is on fun and developing team play by implementing more of a game strategy as well as improving proper positioning, standard skills and goal scoring.

Games will be every Saturday with 1-2 practices / week

Each game will be 4; 10-15 minute halves and 10 v 10 (+ GK)

PREMIER-Grades 5 thru 8

Focus is on fun and developing team play by implementing game strategy as well as maintaining proper positioning, standard skills and goal scoring.

1-2 practices / week

Games will typically take place on Saturday afternoon and will consist of 2; 30-40 minute halves in a 10 v 10 (+ GK) set up

Practice times and locations will be determined by each team coach.  Athletes must provide their own shin guards, cleats and mouthguard.

AYS INDOOR SOCCER

Indoor Soccer Director - OPEN POSITION

This six week indoor soccer league is open to both boys and girls grades k-5 that are interested in playing small-sided (6 v 6) games in a competitive environment. This will be strictly game competition.  NO PRACTICES! NO SKILLS AND DRILLS!

Due to space, registrations will be limited to the first 32 children in each of the two divisions.  Cost is $25/child for the program.

Games: Sundays 1pm to 5pm, starting March and running until mid April.

·         Games will be a rotating 10-15 minutes long and each team will play 3 games or more.

·         We will use a size 4 (D1) or size 5(D2) indoor soccer ball for all games

·         6-7 players from each team on the floor, which includes the goalie

·         Substitutions will be made on the fly

·         The ball will be played off the walls and bleachers for lots of action and fast pace.

·         So that everyone can experience playing with others, teams will be divided up each session.

·         Each player will be required to wear the following; THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS; if a child does not have these items they WILL NOT be allowed to play.

1.      Non-marking soled sneakers

Basketball

There are several components to the basketball program.  AYS offers programs for both boys and girls in grades pre-k through 8.  Players in Pre-k, K and grade 1 will participate in the Little Hoopsters skills and drills program. This program is designed to introduce the children to the fundamentals of basketball.  Players in grades 2 through 8 will be placed into teams in the following groups: Minors - Grades 2-4         Majors - Grades 5-8

Due to limited gym space, the boys and girls programs alterante start dates each year.  One program signups are in October and runs in December and January while the next program singups are in December and runs in February and March.  For the 2015-2016 season, the boys will begin first with the girls season to follow.  Signup fee is $40.00 for regular basketball and $30.00 for Little Hoopsters.  Athletes must provided gym sneakers and basketball shorts.

Travel Basketball

Travel Team Basketball is for girls and boys grade 3rd-8th.  They are split up into 3 divisions:  3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade & 7th/8th grade.  Tryouts are held for this program and cuts are made. Tryouts usually happen in October and the season starts in November. Fee for this program is $55.00.

Wrestling

Wrestling is for both boys and girls; grades 3rd-12th!! It is open to the youth in our community and surrounding communities. Sign up fee is $25 for local youth and $30 for out of town youth. This clinic will focus on learning basic skills and techniques along with rules and will be a 6 wk session. Wrestlers will have the option to then compete at a tournament if director feels wrestlers are ready for that next step.

Babe Ruth Baseball

Babe Ruth baseball is for athletes between the ages of 13-15.  The cutoff date for eligibility is April 30th.  Sign ups are normally held in mid-Feb through mid-March.  Signup fee is $75.00  The Babe Ruth baseball season runs from May to early July.  Generally, there are two teams.  A prep team made up of the younger athletes and a major team comprised of the older kids.  Athletes must supply their own glove, baseball pants, socks and cleats.

Baseball

Cal Ripken Baseball is for kids from 7 - 12 years old.  The league is made up of 3 divisions: Rookie League (ages 7-8), Minor (ages 9-10) and Major (ages 11-12). May 1st of the current year is the date for determining age.  Signups are usually held in mid-Feb through mid-March.  Sign up fee is $50.00. Our program runs from April depending on weather and field condition to June or July. Athletes must supply their own baseball glove, cleats, baseball pants and socks.

Softball

Softball is for girls ages 7-14.  Teams are broken up by age as of January 1st on any given year and are divided up by 8U (8 and under), 10U, 12U and 14U.  Sign ups are typically held mid-Feb March to mid-March.  Signup fee is $40.00.  We are currently part of the Franklin County Softball League. The season normally runs from the last week of April until late June. Athletes are required to supply their own glove and cleats.

Little Slugger's TeeBall

T-Ball is for children 4- 6 years of age.  The "season" normally starts in May and ends in June.  Sign ups are normally held mid-Feb through mid-March. Signup fee is 30.00.  This is for both boys and girls interested in learning the fundamentals of baseball and softball.  Athletes must provide their own glove. 

Volleyball

This six week volleyball league is open to both boys and girls grades 3rd-8th that are interested learning the sport of volleyball. This will be a 1 day a week 2 hour session, with the first hour being skills and drills and the second hour being 7 vs 7 games or 6 vs 6. Due to space, registrations will be limited to the first 36 children in each of the two divisions. Cost is $35/child for the program.

Volleyball will start Mid May and run until the end of June. Skills and drills will cover a variety of things including: Serving, Setting, Hitting, Passing and Blocking.

Games :

·         Teams will be broken up into 4 teams of 9.

·         Division 1: 7 players will be on the court at all times with 2 players on sidelines as subs. Subs will rotate into game as rotations of servers take place.

·         Division 2: 6 players will be on court at all times  with 3 players on sidelines as subs.  Subs will rotate into game as rotations of servers take place.

·         So that everyone can experience playing with others, teams will be divided up each session.

·         Each player will be required to wear the following;  knee pads and indoor non marking sole sneakers.  THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS; If a child does not have these items they WILL NOT be allowed to play.

Division 1 (4pm-6pm)

·         Grades 3-5

·         4 teams of 9

Division 2 (6pm-8pm)

·         Grades 6-8

·         4 teams of 9
